Using Dynamic Images to Show a Prospect their Cityscape

Using Dynamic Images to Show a Prospect their Cityscape

Dynamic Images serve personalised images to your prospects, making them a powerful tool for your marketing initiatives.

You may serve dynamic images in multiple areas including emails, landing pages, web forms, or your website.

In this tip, we show you how to personalise your web page to display an image of the cityscape through location using GEO-IP.

Example: If your prospect is based in New York, and they open a dynamic image, you may display an image of New York.

One way to serve a dynamic image by location is using our Current Activity: GEO IP State/Province filter in our query builder. This query filter will track the location or GEO-IP of the State/Province where the image is being opened from, and serve an image you choose.

1) Select a default image

The default image will display when prospects do not match any of the criteria for the other cityscapes you will be adding.

Example: If you are targeting New York but your prospect is located elsewhere, it will show the default image.

Under the Assets => Image Library section select the 'dynamic images' tab and click default image.

2) Add a cityscape image

After you have added a default image, select 'Add Version' and add an image of a cityscape you would like to display. Below we've added a picture of the New York cityscape.

Save it to display the 'Edit Targeting' button.

3) Add the location targeting

Using the 'Edit Targeting' button, select from the drop down Current Activity: GEO IP State/Province to filter by location of province or state. If you're putting the image in an email and you have the contact address recorded to the contact's organisation, you may want to use Organisation: Province/State instead.

Note: Other filters that target location are available depending on your scenario, including organisation location, targeting by city, etc.

In this case, we will target GEO-IP activity based in the state of New York, by using the name and abbreviation along with the 'Is One Of' filter option. This allows you to reference multiple ways a province/state may be typed.

'delimited by' separates the filter values you type in with a semicolon. This ensures 'NY' and 'New York' is not seen as a single string (NY;New York). You may use a semicolon to separate multiple values.

4) Using the dynamic image

You can now choose how you want to serve your dynamic image.

If building an asset with our builder, you can select the picture under 'dynamic images' and apply it to your web forms, landing pages, or emails.

If you would like to serve this image in another format, you can reference the Source URL to serve the image.

5) Viola!

Your image should now display to visitors with a current Geo-IP activity based in New York.

If your visitor matches the query filter you have applied (in this case, activity from an IP based in New York), your asset should now display the appropriate cityscape image.

You may add multiple versions to your dynamic images to effectively target stories to your prospects.

Below, we have applied the default image, and dynamically loaded the New York cityscape in an ActiveDEMAND landing page.

6) Try other queries based on what you need!

The ActiveDEMAND query builder is a powerful tool for personalising your web content to your prospects.

There are multiple ways to target based on location or other criteria that is suited for your needs.

Another example is tracking by GEO-IP and using Latitude to target an area within a Country.
