Starting Steps

The starting step object is a trigger event that instantiates a workflow. The starting step always has a star in the header of the object:

There can only be one starting step in a workflow. The starting step cannot be deleted. Each starting step is a decision object (see below) and it has only one wire that leaves the object. The wire is green indicating the trigger occurred.

In some cases, you may want to use a collection of landing pages as a microsite in ActiveDEMAND. Thus you may want to point a subdomain or a top domain to an ActiveDEMAND 'home page'.

There are two main account-level settings that help you configure your landing page behaviour. The two settings are "Page Domain" and "Root Page". After you have built a landing page, you can set it as the 'root page' for your microsite by selecting the page from the 'Root Page' dropdown. If you do not see any pages in the 'Root Page' drop down, you have not built any pages in ActiveDEMAND. The domain set in "Page Domain' is redirected to "Root Page'.

For example:

Page Domain: 'www2.JumpDEMAND.com'

Root Page: "Landing Page 1"

If the subdomain of www2 for the JumpDEMAND.com domain is properly set up as per this article, then anyone who tries to hit 'http://www2.JumpDEMAND.com' will end up on the page "Landing Page 1"

Refer to this article about setting up your CNAME records for subdomains. In ActiveDEMAND, under account settings, you will find a "Page Domain" setting. Here you can set your page domain, the default being something like www2.xxx.com.

ActiveDEMAND starts with a basic set of Organisational and Contact fields. To keep things simple, ActiveDEMAND has a small set of attributes for both Organisations and Contacts. You may want to add your own set of Custom Fields to an Organisation or Contact.

Each custom field you create will create:

A custom field that shows up on every Contact (if the field is a Contact custom field) or Organisation (if the field is an Organisation custom field)
A webform element for inputting the custom data
A dynamic field for displaying an organisation or contact's data in an email or Landing Page
A query element for use in the query engine

The format of the dynamic field for custom fields:

Depending on the custom field type, the formatted version will be styled with HTML.

Most custom fields can be referenced directly by their custom fields name as ActiveDEMAND will automatically create dynamic fields for all custom fields.

In general, CNAME records for standalone accounts should be set up as follows:

Landing Page Domain = www2.domain.com
Link Branding Domain =link.domain.com
Email Sending Domain = email2.domain.com

However, in a multi-tenant environment, the following guidelines apply:

Multi-Account Websites

When the sub-accounts under a master account are all just sections of the same website (share a website domain) examples

the landing page domain and the link branding domain should be the same CNAME record this CNAME record should be unique for each subaccount
