How do i import a contact list?

How do i import a contact list?

In ActiveDEMAND, a contact list is a 'view' into the ActiveDEMAND contact database. Similar to a CRM, ActiveDEMAND maintains a master database of contacts. Contact lists are just 'views' into the contact database. Similar to social groups, a person can be a member of multiple social groups, if the group disbands, the person still exists. You can create/delete contact lists and not have to worry about deleting or creating new contacts. The list is just a collection of contacts in ActiveDEMAND.

Thus this question can be viewed as two questions: How do I import contacts? and How do I create lists?

Importing contacts into ActiveDEMAND is done through the contact import interface.

Or from the dashboard:

The contact import can be done either from a direct CRM connection or from a csv/xls/xlsx file.

Once you have uploaded a file, ActiveDEMAND will parse through the file and allow you to map the columns in the file to fields in ActiveDEMAND

It is important to map the contact email address as this is the lookup field in ActiveDEMAND.

ActiveDEMAND supports the following file types: Excel, CSV, and TSV files. When you are happy with your preview and data mapping, you will be able to start the import. You can cancel the import at any point, and once it has completed you will have 2 days to confirm and remove it if necessary. Note that if you chose to delete an import, it will only remove contacts that were created, not ones that were updated.

Whenever a file is imported, ActiveDEMAND creates a list of contacts for this import. You can delete the list or use it ... again the list is just a view into the contact database.
